The Person Behind This Blog

“Hello! I am Anaru Khakhlary from Assam North-East. A few years ago, I had no savings, no idea about investing, and I was living paycheck to paycheck. This blog is everything I wish someone had told me back then.” |
My Story — Why I Started This Blog
Let me be honest with you.
I was not always good with money. In fact, for a long time, I was terrible with it.
Growing up in Rural Assam, money was always tight in our family. Nobody ever taught us about savings, investments, or how to manage a salary. We just earned and spent. Month after month. Year after year. This story belongs not only to our family, but to every household in the neighborhoods.
When I started earning my first salary in government sector 2015, I followed the same traids of our family and neighborhoods. I would get my salary on the 1st of the month and by the 20th, I would be borrowing from friends. I had no emergency fund. No savings. Not a single rupee invested anywhere except ELSS fund to save tax.
I remember one particular month when my phone broke down, and I had to borrow ₹3,000 from a colleague just to repair it. That moment was deeply embarrassing for me. I thought to myself — I earn a salary every month. How am I still broke?
That was the moment I decided something had to change.
The Turning Point
I started reading everything I could find about personal finance. But most of it was written for people in Mumbai or Delhi — people with high salaries, expensive portfolios, and complicated investment strategies who are already wealthy
Nobody was writing for people like me or lower/middle class or people from smaller cities, who did not know the difference between a mutual fund and a fixed deposit. People who just wanted simple, honest advice in plain language.
So, I decided to become that person.
I started learning, applying, making mistakes, and learning again. Slowly things changed. Also my ELSS fund start to show live examples. I opened satarte to experiment in SIP with just ₹1000 in DSP midcap in 2019 and then, I was able to build my first emergency fund. I paid off a small loan. And for the first time in years, I felt in control of my money.
That feeling — of financial peace, even small financial peace — is something every Indian deserves to experience.
